Day 262

Paradise takes a lot of work. Especially when you’re getting it ready for guests. The Keeper’s bedroom upstairs has been spackled and painted, and is absolutely gorgeous. Pics to follow when I get everything on the walls and in the room. In the meantime, here’s a couple of neat shots of the scraped walls, showing decades, if not centuries of layers of paint. It looks like a map to me. I may do a series on this…

Just tons of other work going on. Had some happenstance visitors the other day, which is becoming an almost daily occurrence, and pleasant being a change from squirrels to humans. A family from Ohio, visiting a gentleman whose family has been here for many years and generations. It was nice to have Sam, Emily, Jordan and Steve Schafer come by, along with Mark and Cole McGhie. It is important to make this Light available to everyone, and we seem to be doing a good job at that.

Tim and Kathy are headed off for the commemoration celebration of the new quarter in the America The Beautiful series, honoring Acadia National Park with an illustration of Bass Harbor Light. You can learn more about it here…

and here’s a sneak peak…

A Village resident, Tigger, and his son and daughter, Ian and Sophie, were out fishing on the wharf yesterday, catching Mackerel. It’s what kids do here, which is nice…

Some great snaps of Marilee Lovit’s visit, our island botanist, that I was able to get up…

With some fascinating plant specimens…

Lots to do so I apologize for the brevity…

Horn’s on. Light shines. Good Enuf.
